Day 2 (warning - non-stamping related)

Yesterday morning (Monday) as I drove from Broomfield to Longmont I noticed smoke coming from the mountains behind Boulder. By the time I left Longmont (about 3 hours later) the air was filled with smoke and it looked like there were heavy clouds in the sky blocking the sun. These observations were made from about 15 miles or so away. As evening progressed the smell of smoke in the air in Broomfield became much more prounounced and when I awoke this morning I was finding it uncomfortable to breathe. One of the local television stations here has put up some pictures sent in by viewers of what is going on and I've grabbed a few to show you here. If you want to see more click here. The awesome power of nature is humbling. Thousands of people have been evacuated and they are saying that dozens of homes have been destroyed. There are 7 air tankers dropping retardent on the fire and the fire officials still say there is no way to estimate when they will get it under control. The winds are set to pick up again this afternoon which could make matters worse. Here's some of the pictures:

I'll be back a bit later today to share some pix from a wonderful evening stamping with friends last night. Boy did those gals make some fantastic cards!

Thanks for visiting!

Those are awesome pics. Bet you wish you were still on the boat?
Mother Nature never lets us forget how powerful she is.
Glad you are back safe and sound.
