Better late than never?

I think that this came via one of my very favorite people - my cousin Juliet - but I forgot to write it down when I wrote down the quote.  If it wasn't her, it certainly is something that would come from her - she's one very special lady!

I am currently working in my Washington, DC office and scurrying around in an attempt to be able to head to Belmira on Friday.  I took tons of pix of Convention swaps and Christmas in July projects that I will be sharing with you all over the next month or so as I make my temporary home on the water.

I hope to visit my very favorite bead shop this week too - Beadazzled - IMHO one of the best bead shops in the country.  I brought along my tools and findings, so maybe there will be some pix of new jewelry creations soon too!

And when he's not sailing ....

This is how DH keeps himself busy:

P.S.  He's the really cute guy with the guitar that's singing!

See if you can tell which one is his brother Joe?  Leave me a comment.  Thanks for visiting!

Monday Freebie - July 22, 2013

A little late today as I try to catch up from my trip to Salt Lake City.  Here's your freebie for today:

I really hope to post some pictures of convention and also of some of the wonderful swaps that I received.   I'll be travelling a bit over the next month or so and will be showing you some of these great projects since I won't have the chance to do a whole lot of creating while on board Belmira.  I always take my knitting and hope to have some jewelry in the works after my trip to DC next week, but paper crafting projects will probably have to take a back burner for a bit.

Glitterbabe always makes me LOL!

Stef shared this on her blog yesterday and figured it was worth sharing with you all today.

TODAY'S WORDS OF WISDOM.....
When our lawn mower broke and wouldn't run, my wife kept hinting to me that I should get it fixed.  Somehow I always had something else to take care of first, the shed, the boat, making beer..  Always something more important to me. Finally she thought of a clever way to make her point. When I arrived home one day, I found her seated in the tall grass, busily snipping away with a tiny pair of sewing scissors. I watched silently for a short time and then went into the house.. I was gone only a minute, and when I came out again I handed her a toothbrush. I said, "When you finish cutting the grass, you might as well sweep the driveway." The doctors say I will walk again, but I will always have a limp.

Washi Tape Cards - Part 2

Here are the rest of the cards that we made at Crystal French's washi tape card class:

We made two each of these designs and had a total blast.  Thanks Crystal!

Tomorrow I will be heading to Salt Lake City for the 25th Anniversary Stampin' Up! Convention.  I hope to have fun pix to share with you of all of our activities and also will begin sharing some of the fantastic swaps that I know I am going to get.  See you tomorrow!

Washi Tape Cards - Part 1

Several weeks ago, a couple of us had the privilege of taking a class at my home given by the lovely and talented Crystal French.  We made lots of cards using washi tape and she taught us several techniques on how best to use this fun new product.  Here is the first batch of cards from that class:

I'll be back tomorrow with the rest of the cards (didn't want to overload you with too many images at once).

Playing with some new toys

In the process of designing my convention swap cards, I played with some of my favorite new items from the new catalog - the Flower Shop stamp set and the coordinating Pansy Punch:

The card base is Island Indigo and the wonderful designer paper is from the Gingham Garden pack.  I also used the new set called Label Love and the coordinating Artisan Label punch.  The sentiment is from A Round Array and was punched using the 7/8 inch scallop circle punch.  The Daffodil Delight gingham strip was stamped using the Gingham wheel that I have taken off the wheel and mounted on clear foam.  The colors used for the flowers are Island Indigo, Daffodil Delight and Melon Mambo.  The leaf is die cut using the Secret Garden framelits from Old Olive card stock.  I topped things off with rhinestones in the flower centers for a bit of bling.

Convention Swap Cards

I am participating in a card front swap at the Stampin' Up! convention this year organized by the Sudsol group (Simply Unique Demonstrators Sharing On Line -  see the link in the sidebar to find out how to get a trial membership).  Here is my card for this swap:

I am also participating in another organized swap with some talented gals who will be swapping first layers (5 1/4 x 4 cards).  Here is my card for that swap:

I think this layer would look great on either Strawberry Slush or Pistachio Pudding don't you?

If you want details on any of the product used on either of these cards, just shoot me an email (link in the sidebar) or leave me a comment and I will let you know what I used.

I am getting so excited about going to Convention this year.  This is the 25th anniversary of Stampin' Up! and I expect that the company will outdo itself for it's demonstrators this year.  Watch for updates next week and hopefully I'll be sharing some fun pix and some of the great swaps that I have received.

Christmas in July - Sassy Chic Stamp Camp - July 13, 2013

Sassy Chic is hosting their annual Christmas in July stamp camp tomorrow at the Life Bridge Church in Longmont, Colorado.  At this fun event the gals will be making 12 great Christmas cards and get a head start on Christmas this year.  There's lots of fun door prizes and yummy food too.  If you want any information, just shoot me an email (link in the sidebar) and I can get it to you.

Here's the project the gals will be making at my table:

This colorful dsp is from the new Holiday Mini catalog and is called Season of Style.  It's a paper pack that contains 48 sheets, 24 each of 2 double sided designs.  A perfect pad for making all those fun Christmas cards you want to send out to your family and friends.  The ribbon is also from the mini catalog and is 1 1/4 burlap - so fun!  The stamp comes from a new stamp set called Very Merry Tags and has 8 stamps that fit nicely into punches.  The card base is the new in-color Baked Brown Sugar.

I made several cards using items from the new mini that I will be sharing  over the next few days (don't faint, I did actually get some pictures taken finally).  I also have some pix of the swaps I will be taking to the two organized swaps I am participating in at the 25th Anniversary Stampin' Up! Convention in Salt Lake City next week.  I am getting so excited!  Can't wait to see what SU has cooked up for us this year.

DH is finally on the water and enjoying some sailing.  Be sure to check out his blog Sailing Belmira (link also in the sidebar).  I will be joining him in just a few short weeks - can't wait for that either!!!!

I hope everyone in the states celebrates a happy and safe Independence Day!  We won't be having many fireworks displays in our area due to the high fire danger, but the grills will be sizzling just the same.
