February Christmas Card Challenge

Yesterday I showed you my goof up card for this month's Christmas Card challenge sponsored by Tracy. My new take on this (minus the dp) was to use a layer of embossed card stock instead. Card base is (what else) Pacific Point! Layers are Kiwi Kiss and Soft Sky (I really dug into my stash of retired colors!). The image is from KAH-Wink-E-Dink, a company I just discovered and who you will see images from again very soon on this blog. Fun stuff! I punched the snowflakes with a MS snowflake punch and also punched the inside as well and let the color show through the cut outs. The bling is more of my little gems from the jewelry department at one of the "big box" stores whose name I cannot mention.

Image was colored with my KIN pencils and oms and I also used my markers as it is hard to get a true red with my pencils. I cut the image out using deckle scissors.

I'm off to party with my stampin' buds today. First brunch with some of my grandchildren though. Maybe I'll take my camera along and share some pix with you later. Grandma's are always looking for excuses to show off pictures of their grandchildren!

Everything Old is New Again #7

This week's Everything Old is New Again challenge was to dig out your ribbon scraps and put them to good use. I had a chance to play along this week and here's my cards:

The first is a digi image from Bugaboo - it's one of her Bugaboo Brats! Still totally loving those images! The second uses an image from a new set call Garden from the Heart from SU.

Here's the ribbon jar that I keep on my desk. It's a mess, but it's full of really good stuff! I have another box full of ribbon scraps as well, but there's too much in there to keep on the desk. Yikes - I either need to learn how to throw things away or find some ribbon-less folks out there who want to make things from scraps! Maybe I should put a grab bag together and give it away sometime soon?

Thanks for visiting today. The weather is supposed to be good today and I am hoping to get a whole bunch of errands run while the sun shines! Tomorrow is my fourth annual trip to a friend's Stampin' Up! party. It was the very first party I ever went to and I have been totally hooked on stamping ever since. It should be loads of fun - it always is!

One last parting shot ....

Sharon's challenge on No Time to Stamp today was to make a sympathy card. This is a technique we learned at our downline meeting this month. I loved it and have wanted to try it ever since the meeting. The stencil is from the current mini catalog and it is inked and then stamped on in Pacific Point with stamps from the Charming set.

I also wanted to share some pix of the canvas shop that is my living room/dining room and of the boys that populate it:

Harold always wants to help, but mostly he just gets in the way! DH is not really fond of him hanging around and shedding all over the fabric!

Thanks for visiting!

It's Springtime - at least in my dining room!

Look at what my wonderful DH brought me last night! Isn't he just the sweetest!

I also have some mums, daisies, hibiscus and poinsettias all blooming in my dining room! Right now there is a major canvas shop set up in the dining room and living room as he gets his sail covers, bimini, dodger, etc. ready to take east in April when he goes to live on our sailboat for a couple of months, but in the midst of all that chaos there is just this wonderful island of color! Snow outside - blossoms inside! I love it!

I was also working on this month's Christmas Card Challenge posted by Tracy. We were to use the colors of the Olympics! I found this wonderful Olympic digital scrapbooking set and I was so excited! I also found this wonderful new digital stamp designer - KAH-Wink-E-Dink - and so had a fun new image to play with. I made this card ....

and then went back and read the challenge to make sure I had it right ... and of course I didn't! NO designer paper! So I went back to the drawing board (luckily I had only made my prototype) and I'll have those to show you tomorrow!

Thanks for visiting - again - today!

Digi DP is so fun!

I picked up this digi dp the other day, Zoe Pearn's Persimmon from Sweet Shoppe. I also picked up a button flower digi image set from Squigglefly. I made images transparent and printed them out on some of the digi paper and cut them out. Cardstock is Aqua Mist (PTI) and Dusty Durango (SU). Buttons are from my stash and the sentiment is from Small Sayings (retired SU).

I am taking the day off from work today and am hoping to get things cleaned up in the studio as Monday the Monday Night Stampers will be back! I'll miss my other Monday night visitors, but it will be nice to see the gals again.

Just a few more Bugaboo ....

These were the first set of the Friday Freebie images I printed out. They were a bit large and I wasn't sure quite what to do with them once I colored them. Pulled out the old reliable nesties though and here's the result:

Cardstock top to bottom is Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise (SU) and Summer Sunrise (PTI). DP is a mix of SU and more of that fun Jessica Sprague digi paper. Sentiments are all from a retired SU set called Everyday Expressions - aren't they fun? Images colored with my KIN pencils and OMS.

Thanks for visiting!

Stamp Camp Possibles

In trying to come up with a card design for an upcoming stamp camp, I came across this card and fell in love! I tried to simplify it just a bit, but I think it is still going to be too complex to do in a stamp camp setting with 5 other demonstrators and hopefully 60-100 people.

Outside:
Inside:

I'll keep looking for that "perfect" card so you will see more of these "possibles" show up here over the next few days. Our first strategy meeting is on March 2 and I really want to have my design selected by then. We'll see ....

Some Trees

I received my stamps from PTI that were out of stock and got a chance to play with them a bit. Here's my cards:

Cardstock on both is Rich Razzleberry with matching dp (SU). Sentiments are PTI. Ink used was Fresh Snow and Versamark with clear ep. Top sentiment punched with SU punches and the bottom was cut using a label nestie. The stamp set is called Through the Trees and it really has some lovely images and lots of possiblities.

Busy week at work this week, but hopefully some chances for creating too! Thanks for visiting.

Just two more Bugaboo and then I'll stop for a bit ... maybe

Here are two from the Bugaboo Brats collection - Isabella and Sean. I had to have the Isabella as that is my dgd's name too!

Isabella is on Orchid Opulence cardstock (SU) with a Spring Floral wheel in OO as well. The sentiment is from Dandelion Designs and was a gift from my bloggy buddy Nicky in Hawaii! Yellow is Lemon Tart from PTI and the scalloped circles are Elegant Eggplant (SU) and Lemon Tart. Isabella was colored with my KIN pencils and OMS and the sentiment was colored with SU markers.

Sean is on New Leaf with layers of Summer Sunrise (PTI) and some more of that wonderful Jessica Sprague digi paper. Sentiment is from Hero Arts and is decorated with stamps from the Small Sayings set (SU) that my wonderful step-mom found for me at a garage sale in NJ! He is colored with KIN pencils and OMS too.

Well I guess that's enough for this weekend .... I made more, but will spread it out over the next week and give you a break!

Thanks for visiting again today!

Prairie Fairy Coneflowers

I got this coneflower image from Prairie Fairy, another very fun source for digital images! I dug out a bunch of flat lace for v-day cards and haven't yet stashed it away and thought it looked nice (although a bit crooked sometimes) with these images.

Cardstock is New Leaf and Summer Sunrise (PTI) and Pretty in Pink and Tempting Turquioise (SU). DP is all from my Jessica Sprague digi collection. Sentiments are SU (some retired) and CTMH. Corner punch on the yellow flower is from MS and the corner/edge punch combo on the turquoise flower is from SU.

Thanks for visiting! We're getting more snow today, so another day of hunkering down is in order. I just hope it clears up some before I have to drive to work tomorrow! New Kaboodle Doodle challenge tomorrow too, so be sure to hop over and check out the great creations by the DT.

Bugaboo Freebie project

You can tell its been snowy and I've been hunkered down in the craft studio - two days in a row I've managed to put up two posts! I'm lovin' it!

Jodie gives away freebies on Fridays on her blog. SU restrictions won't let me give you the url, but if you google Bugaboo Stamps you'll find her. I made this project with one of the freebies from yesterday!

Two of each color:

With the box:

All tucked away in the box:

These little love note boxes are so easy and fun to make. The cards are 3x3 and I usually make 8 for a box and along with 8 envelopes, they fit just perfectly in the love note box. You can find the template for the box in the handy tools section on the right side of this blog. Give it a try and let me know how you like it. If you post it, leave me a link so that I can go and take a look! Colors here are Pacific Point, Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo and Pumpkin Pie. All the images were mounted on Old Olive and colored with my KIN pencils and OMS.

Thanks for visiting!

Couple More Get Well cards

I managed to make a couple more Get Well cards to add to my stash. On the first I used the same format as my downline swap this month. The second is another with that fun floral image from Bugaboo.

A Couple More Bugaboo Birthday Cards

I am having way too much fun with these! Here's two more I made today:

The first one has my fave blue of the moment - Pacific Point! The second one is also for this week's Ways to Use it - Orange Love - on SCS. Haven't played one of these in a coon's age and it was fun. I like orange, especially when paired with yellow!

Thanks so much for visiting, again, today!

Bugaboo Birthday!

I am in love with Bugaboo images - can you tell? Here's a birthday card I made with a really cute one.

Card base is Lemon Tart (PTI) and layers are Rich Razzleberry (embossed with one of my new Asian folders) and Lovely Lilac (SU). Ribbon is Lemon Tart and a holiday ribbon scrap for a bit of bling. Sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes (SU) and layered using the Word Window and Modern Label punches (SU) I colored the image with my Koh-i-Noor pencils and OMS. Easy peasy and fun to boot!

Thanks for visiting today! It's snowy and cold and I am glad to be able to hunker down in my studio and play today!

Another Get Well Card

I am sure getting into some wild color combinations lately ... even for me! I am loving playing with these new Bugaboo images. So fun! Card base on this is Pacific Point (I'm going to be devastated when I use up the last of this color). Real Red (SU) mat with Lemon Tart (PTI) stamped with an old background stamp from SU called Dots & Daisies in Lovely Lilac with some of the flowers colored with a Real Red marker and dotted with red stickles. Image is mounted on Lovely Lilac (SU). I colored my little bear with my Koh-i-Noor pencils and OMS.

Just playing around ....

I haven't been doing many challenge cards lately, but I have been being really inspired by all the talent around me. I needed a quick and cheery thank you card today and remembered THIS CARD made by the always inspirational LeAnne (wee inklings). Here's my version:

Card base is More Mustard with accent colors in Riding Hood Red and Cameo Coral. The dp is some digital dp I got in a scrapbook kit that worked perfectly with my colors and wasn't too distracting as a background. Sentiment stamp is from Wordsworth and the flower comes from the SU set Best Wishes and More.

Thanks for visiting today. I'm way behind on my blurfing, so if I haven't left you any comment luv lately, it's only because I've been a bit busy at work.

Off to catch a little Olympic action before getting some sleep. I am NOT going to stay up till it's all over again tonight though. Have to catch up in the morning.

Get Well Card

I have a good friend who is having surgery today so I made her this card. I'm hoping to make her a bunch and send them over the next few weeks to keep her cheered up! She teases me all the time about my "crafty crafts" activities, but I think she will like to receive the fruits of my labors anyway! She is an incredible ceramic artist and has been my teacher and mentor for many years. One of the truly "nice" people I know!

I've been on a bit of a "spring" color binge lately. Must be all the snow! The card base on this is Certainly Celery with accents of Lovely Lilac and Pixie Pink. The "fan" was cut with my Big Shot using the large scallop circle die then cut and folded. The cute little button is from PTI. I should tell you also that all the great gingham and polka dotted papers that you have been seeing me use over the last week or so come from some great digital paper packs that I got from Jessica Sprague. Not only does she offer some totally fantastic digital classes, but every Wednesday she has a $1 sale and I have picked up some truly remarkable deals there! SU restrictions won't allow me to give you a direct link to her, but you can Google her or send me an email and I'll tell you how to find her.

Thanks for visiting today!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Just a couple quick cards - the first I got from my wonderful blogging buddy Curt - I came home from a very long day at work on Friday and found this in my mail - what a spirit lifter - thanks so much Curt!

On this second card, I was playing around with some new images I picked up from Bugaboo Stamps - very fun stuff! I used my Koh-i-Noor pencils and OMS and played with my new large flower punch - punching, attaching to copy paper and punching again to get the nice pointed flower! Another covered button too (I'm addicted).

Thanks for visiting.

EONAC #5

I finally got another chance to play in the Everything Old is New Again challenge this week. Play a visit here and get the deets. This week's challenge was to use an unloved color (except in the fall usually) - ORANGE - along with an old stamp. I actually made two cards for this one, but my anniversary card uses the very first NEW Stampin' Up! set I ever purchased - Doodle This. I had a bunch of old ones that I picked up on eBay, but I got this at the very first SU party I attended. I don't know what this says about me, but it was still unmounted! I love it though and now that it's al nice and mounted, hopefully I'll get some use out of it! I hope that Apricot Appeal counts as orange!

Tomorrow is my wedding anniversary and I made this card to give to dh to say "thanks" for 26 wonderful years! If I can manage it, tomorrow's post will be putting down some of the thoughts that are running through my head on this occasion. Right now I have to get ready for a visit from the grandchildren! Tomorrow is mommy's birthday and she and daddy are having a night out tonight while gp and gm have fun with the kiddos.

The second card was made just playing with some of the scraps from the first card!

Thanks so much for visiting today!

February Swap card

Here's my swap card for this month's meeting. I was totally inspired by this card made by the fabulous Chat (nitestamper). Her cards are always an inspiration.

Card base and mountings are Old Olive, flowers are punched in Melon Mambo and accented wtih white gel pen. Stamps used are from Vintage Vogue and Whimsical Words stamped in Old Olive and the sentiment was punched with the scallop oval and layered on the large oval. DP is from Cottage Wall and the ribbon is the new satin ribbon featured in the mini - love that stuff! I think that if I was making just one or two of this card for someone special, I would do as Chat did and use pearls instead of the white gel pen, but making 15 of them would have totally depleted my Pretties kit.

Thanks for visiting today. I notice another follower has dropped off. I'm going to get a complex here soon ....

Another button card

I'm loving making these buttons! Send me an email if you want more info on that.

Card base is Basic Gray with an embossed layer of white. The dp is Night & Day specialty paper - why do I wait to discover how much I love some of these dp's until after they are gone!?! This was in the Holiday Mini catalog and I only bought one pack. I've been using it and it's nearly gone now, sob, sob... Oh well, I'll just have to find an adequate substitute! Heart is a nestie and the cute stamp is from A Happy Heart. Sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set and I punched it nicely centered using a technique we learned at the regional last weekend!

Thanks for visiting today. Hopefully have some crafting time tonight and can get a tutorial out on that nice and messy technique I used on some cards on Sunday!

Quick post before I fall into bed .....

The twins and baby were here tonight and I'm kind of wiped out, but I just had to make a card with this set before I head to beddie bye! You HAVE TO go and check out this stamp set! The back story to the set is HERE and you can order yours HERE (order a couple it's for a really good cause!). This is a really fun set and I will be making some more cards with it before all is said and done - for sure!

Enough babble - here's my card:

When I was looking at these colors, it really looked like the blue in the pattern paper matched really well with my Baja Breeze cardstock. I'm not so sure now and I think I'll make another using Bashful Blue. My paper piecing skills need a good deal of honing, but I had fun making this.

Be sure to check out those two links above and see the other stamps in this fun set! I see I've lost another follower - do I need some deodorant?

Thanks for visiting!
