I am busting at the seams!

I have been busting to tell you all some really fantastic news - guess who is on the new Bugaboo Stamps design team? Yeah, you're right - ME! I love Jodie's images and have been playing with them for awhile (as you probably have already noticed) and when the opportunity to apply came along, well, I just couldn't resist! Here is the card I made for today's New Release Tuesday!

Kaboodle Doodles Challenge card

I am slowly resurfacing after over three weeks of nightmare. Got sick, got well, got even sicker, now getting well again. I will hopefully catch up with myself sometime in the next century!

This is my Kaboodle Doodle challenge card from last week! Luckily I had a chance to make it in one of those get well stages!


Image is from Soft Pencil and I did some paper piecing on this little cutie pie. Don't have much left after trying to work at the office today, but maybe tomorrow I can share some FABULOUS news with all of you! I also have a slide show of the last downline meeting swaps and make and takes that are even later than the challenge card! Yikes. Please bear with me while I play catch up. I have the BEST blogging buddies!

I have been trying to kick this illness whatever it is - not pneumonia but definitely respiratory and a true pain - I am not a very good sick person. I think I pushed and went back to work and should probably have spent a bit more time in bed. But whatever, it is keeping me flat on my back without any energy to speak of about every three or four days. I am going to try to get rid of it this time though. I have lots to share, but a limited amount of energy to get it posted. I wanted to start with a post to send a HUGE thank you to my bloggy buddy Curt. I can't tell you how my spirits were lifted when dh brought a wonderful package up to me the other day. It was filled with the most marvelous and thoughtful gifts from Curt! Here's some pix:





So many gorgeous hand crafted beauties - and all filled with lots of wonderful coffee and chocolate too! Thank you so much Curt you are way, way too kind!

Well, better get back to bed. Got no sleep at all last night and almost woke up dh to take me to the ER. Was able to breathe a bit easier today so I'm hopeful that with some rest and a steady stream of aspirin I can sleep tonight and send this nastiness packing for GOOD!

Monday Night Stamping is BACK!

The girls, Sabrina and Diane, came over to stamp tonight. It's the first Monday night we have all been together in quite some time and it was a blast. Everyone got something done (Sabrina is an overachiever and made lots). Here's a sampling of tonight's projects:

My card will be one of the projects we make at my workshop on Friday night. I had a request for a kid's birthday card using this set and I hope they like what I have designed for them.

I enjoy these Monday evenings of just being able to chat and stamp and have fun! We bounce ideas off each other and collaborate on our projects and it's pure enjoyment. Thanks girls!

Awash with Flowers

Been playing with a new set from SU that will be available May 1 in the Summer Mini catalog - very cool set! Here's some of the cards I made with it today:




I think that the Lavender Lace one (with an English sentiment) will be my swap card for this month's downline meeting (this one will go into the package of French cards for my aunt). Two step stamping is so much fun! It was nice to hang out and stamp and chat with fellow downline Jennifer today. It's cold and snaining out! Yesterday was soooooo springlike and gorgeous and today we're back to the tail end of winter. I'm working on some projects for a workshop on Friday that I will show you this week and of course, I'll have the downline slideshow on Thursday!

Slowly but surely ...

Here's another card I made before the onset of the plague using some of my wonderful new BG paper:


Am feeling better, but trying not to push it. My friend Diane sent me an email after I complained about the trials and tribulations of getting old and told me "This getting old ain't for sissies, is it?" She couldn't be more right. But I'm a tough old broad and I'm bouncing back - Lord knows I've got enough padding to bounce from here to China! I've started walking after dinner (nice quiet time for dh and I) and I think that is going to help my sleeping and that seems to be the biggest key to feeling better. Enough .... I'll be back tomorrow with some ideas for this month's downline swap.

dans le français?

I have recently been acquiring some SU stamps in French. I want to make my aunt some cards that she can send to some of our French speaking relatives. My aunt is the family genealogist and every summer she travels all over the country researching our family heritage. She has met and gotten to know all kinds of Doucette's all over this country and other countries as well. She is an amazing woman who fearlessly drives everywhere! Through hurricanes and tornadoes and all kinds of stuff. When I grow up I want to be like her! Here's my first French card.


I hope to make her a dozen or more and send them off to her soon. Right now she's in Florida but I think she will head back to Texas (her home base) before she heads out for her summer adventures. She is an fine artist and so I am a little intimidated making handmade cards for her, but I hope she will like them.

EONAC8 and SSNOTIME129

This card is actually for 2 challenges - Susie and Allison's Everything Old is New Again #8 which is to use a tool you just HAD to have and haven't used and Sharon's Stamp Simply #129 to use a punched border. I HAD to have the Tattered Angels glimmer mist when it first hit the scene. Searched all over and finally found some at a scrapbook store in a nearby town that has since gone out of business. I got several bottles and had to go on a huge search to find them today. I wanted to make a blingy card using some of the new BG paper I picked up today and also my new labels nesties (sorry, don't remember which number they are {eta - they're labels ten}). I thought these little gems (you remember, the ones in the jewelry department that work so perfectly with paper crafting) would bling this up nicely and yet something was missing. Presto - Glimmer Mist - now can someone tell me how to keep the paper from getting all curly? The punched border is a MS punch - isn't it darling?


Card base is Rich Razzleberry. Punched layer is More Mustard. DP is from BG's Kioshi collection. Purple die cut is Plum Pudding from PTI. Sentiment is from Well Scripted by SU. A nice mixture of the wonderful choices we have out there in the grand world of paper crafting. I celebrate the diversity and the creative freedom that it allows me!

Basic Grey card class

My BFF Sabrina treated me to a BG card class today at Archivers. THANKS Sabrina! Here's the cards we made:









These were made from a card kit using the Origins line. These kits are a great way to make quick cards without much effort. Personally, I like to stamp and mix it up a bit - not really a kit kind of gal - but this was fun and the gals in the class were a hoot! I also had a chance, of course, to pick up some papers from a couple of the new lines - Kioshi and Green at Heart - gorgeous! You'll be seeing some of those over the next few days.

CAS CASE

I saw this awesome card on Juanita's blog this week and decided I wanted to try it out. I used the Paradise stamp set and switched to a darker color. I stamped the image and sentiment in Summer Sun craft ink and embossed with clear. I really wanted to use my little Janome Mini so that I could enter this in this week's EONAC which is to use a tool you HAD to have and hardly ever use! Well, I know that I tucked the foot pedal and power supply someplace where I wouldn't lose it - and, you guessed it, I cannot find it anywhere. I really need to get organized. I'm feeling a bit under the weather and so gave up looking and paper pierced instead. It turned out okay in spite of the sewing setback.

Variations on a Theme

I wanted to experiment a bit more with my two stamp camp possibles from yesterday:



I thought there might be a bit too much white space, so I added a layer of color in place of the white, used just two pieces of dp and did some paper piercing in the corners of the cardstock.

Monday night stamping!

Well we're back to Monday night stamping and even though Diane was a party pooper, Sabrina was here to play! I am still trying to come up with a design for my stamp camp next month. Alex had this wonderful card on her blog today and that was my starting point. How I ended up where I did is anyone's guess though. Sabrina and I just kept trying combinations of things that would ensure that I had a card that even the most inexperienced stampers would go home saying "WOW - look what I made!" Here's the card:


This card will let the gals do some embossing, some punching, some die cutting and some distressing and a little stamping too! Card base is Kraft with a dotted swiss layer of Naturals Ivory. The dp for both the layered panel and the butterfly are from the Razzleberry Lemonade dp set from SU. The sentiment is from Well Scripted and is punched with the large oval and layered on one of the tags from the Lots of Tags sizzlit die set. The butterfly is just punched from the dp and layerd on with a glue dot. The ribbon is Melon Mambo as is the solid panel. I think it might be a contender for my stamp camp project.
