Well we are still hiding out from the wind and rain. Yesterday we spent several hours at a local library that was reputed to have wifi, but didn't, so my Kaboodle Doodle post is a bit late. Better late than never I hope though?
Here's my project:
We received some wonderful packets from Jennifer at Craftbrulee - her creations are just gorgeous and you should definitely check out the projects at Kaboodle Doodle made by the other dt members and our VERY SPECIAL guest design team member Ann Vento who made a special return engagement for this project.
Thanks for visiting!

It's another Sentimental Sunday
Well it's Sunday again and that means it's time for another Sentimental Sunday project. This week the lovely and delightful Ann Vento is featuring a set of sentiments that were selected by me and beautifully crafted by her. They will be available for a week and then they will be gone, so be sure to pop over to the Sentimental Sundays blog and download them. It would be really wonderful if you could make a project for our "Words to Inspire" challenge too! You could win four sentiment sets from the Raindrop Echo Designs Digital Collection AND a custom watermark/signature set from the Custom Designs Section.
Here is my project for this week:
As most of you know, I am living on our sailboat with dh for the month of August, so this week's project is strictly digital since I did not bring any crafty goodies with me. The page is made from a kit by Digital Crea a French company with loads and loads of wonderful digital products and also some really great freebies. I am slowly but surely getting over my fears of working with digital scrapbooking kits and I hope to put together a whole scrapbook of my month on board Belmira.
It's rainy and blowing today, so we are hunkered down staying warm and dry below deck catching up on some reading and napping. As I've said before, life aboard Belmira is really rough!
Tomorrow brings a new challenge at Kaboodle Doodles and Ann has generously agreed to rejoin the dt as a guest designer for this one so be sure to stop over and check it out tomorrow and also check out the new blog design. It still needs a bit of tweaking (as does this one), but I like it and hope that you will too.

Still sailing ....
But I have another of those Sassy Chic cards to share with you. I love the layout on this card and have used it often.
Card base is Kraft with Very Vanilla, Old Olive and Tempting Turquoise and some wonderful dp as well - all from SU. Images were stamped and then mounted on punched pieces made using the scallop square punch - also SU. I should know the name of this stamp set, but I am suffering from sun drenching and can't remember. We are harbor bound again today due to lack of wind, but there is definitely no lack of sun and lots of entertainment watching all the fishing and power boats coming and going. I head back to Colorado a week from tomorrow and will be very sorry to leave both dh and Belmira behind. There's always next season though to look forward to!

More Sassy Chic
I wanted to share another of the cards I made at the Sassy Chic Stampers stamp camp. Pat and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at this stamp camp. The demonstrators involved were all so talented and friendly.
Card base on this card is white with a panel of Elegant Eggplant. The image and sentiment are from Elements of Style. They are mounted on a punched pieces of Rich Razzleberry. The flowers in the image are highlighted with Dazzling Diamonds and are very sparkly in real life.

Greetings from Block Island!
Well, after spending the night anchored in Dutch Island Harbor we headed out to Block Island. Sailing was just wonderful and we got in around 3:30 and had time to get squared away and head in to explore just a bit and have some dinner. The next day though .... this is what happened:
These are pix of dh heading out into the waters, digging clams and of the clams and their fate! I am so spoiled!
We also found a wonderful store in Old Harbor called Red Right Returns where we finally found the bean bag chair we have been looking for for years! We wanted a bean bag chair to put out on deck for those lovely, lazy times when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing and we have the leisure time to bask and maybe read a book. Here's a shot of dh trying it out as I stand up on the bowsprit and snap his picture:
We're hoping to head out to Woods Hole, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket before I have to head back to reality on the 29th. Tomorrow night my darling brother-in-law is making me a clam boil - I might have to eat a few more clams .... so difficult, I know, but someone has to do it.

It's another Sentimental Sunday
This week's Sentimental Sundays challenge was to use lace or ribbon on our project. I have a fellow downline member who is in the hospital and I wanted to send her something to hopefully cheer her up. She's a really wonderful gal and I sure hope she liked this card. I used some of the new lace featured in the new SU catalog. I'm loving this lace and the other lace as well.
Card base is the retired Pale Plum with a layer of the also retired Apricot Appeal. DP is from BG and I just love this soft floral pattern. I used one of the new antique brads on this card too. The sentiment is stamped on some cardstock I got to use for watercoloring images and is from the Sincere Salutations set. I used some nesties and added some pearls to finish it off.

Some Sassy "Chic Boutique"
I am still alive and well (at least I am as I write this post) and am scheduling another of my Sassy Chic Stampers cards to share with you while I'm out and about sailing the ocean blue (I hope).
This card is pretty much out of my comfort zone, but I had a surprisingly fun time making it! I have looked at this stamp set (Chic Boutique) and thought - no, not for me - but once again I'm finding that maybe I am going to be proven wrong about that. I really hate when that happens as I already have far too many stamp sets from which to chose lining the shelves of my craft studio.

Life aboard Belmira is just so hard ......
Life aboard Belmira is just so taxing. Here's what I was forced to eat for dinner tonight: We kicked back, had dinner and enjoyed a little Leon Redbone live on the local public radio station. Who needs tv anyway! Thanks for visiting!
It is called pork alentejana (pork and clams) and oh my - it was just soooooo delicious!!!!!
I know that you are feeling so sorry for me about now ..... but don't be, I'll manage to get through this just fine!

Time for a new Kaboodle Doodle Challenge
Well, it's time for a new challenge on the Kaboodle Doodles Challenge blog. This week's challenge is Metal Madness and our sponsor is Crafts4Eternity. Michelle kindly offered images to the dt to use for this challenge and we thank her very much! The winner will receive their choice of three images.
I thought the choice of this adorable boat was quite appropriate for me right now! I had lots of fun making this card and I thank my bff Sabrina for all her help and inspiration with it. Card base is Cherry Cobbler (one of the new colors that I think I am seriously in love with) and the accent colors are Green Galore, Apricot Appeal, Marina Mist and Close to Cocoa. I used some jute and a couple old charms that I had in my stash and I'm sorry but I don't remember where I got them - but they were just perfect for this card. The image was colored with markers and the sentiment is computer generated using a font that I thought fit just right too!

Sentimental Sundays Challenge
It's time for another Sentimental Sundays Challenge! This week Ann told us that "anything goes" - how much fun is that! Several years ago I purchased a Bind-it-All using some money I received for my birthday. It has been sitting on my top shelf gathering dust (really - lots of dust). I cleaned it off and decided that I was going to learn how to use it - I can't believe how easy it is to use and I have been letting myself be intimidated by it all this time. Anyway, I covered a couple of chipboard coasters with some BG dp and cut up some Naturals White to make the pages and created this little book. There is a page for each month and one spare for notes! I created the sentiment on the computer, used a stamp from an old retired SU set called Just for Fun. I added some charms and some ribbon and I think it turned out quite well! What do you think? Should I make some more books?
The cupcake image was colored with markers and mounted on one of those wonderful MS doilies that I sponged with Antique Linen distress ink. My stepmom has suggested an idea for the two newlywed couples in our family this year that I think I am definitely going to try out when I get home. This little machine has opened a whole new world up for me and I cannot wait to play with it some more.

A Sassy Chic Card
My downline Pat and I attended a stamp camp a while ago put on by the Sassy Chic Stampers and throughout this month that I am away from my craft studio, I will be sharing some of these cards as well as some challenge cards that I managed to make before I left Colorado. Here is the first of these cards:
I am setting a few posts to go automatically as I do not know for sure when I am going to be on the mooring and that's the only time that I will have internet access. Thanks so much for sticking with me through this adventure!

Greetings from the Sakonnet River
Well, here is my new home for the next month:
What do you think? So far we have gotten in one really good day of sailing as the wind has been fierce and we have chosen to stay moored rather than fight it. Next week we will head out and spend the week traveling around the area - Block Island, Newport, etc. and we will spend the nights anchored and head back before all the weekend hoopla gets underway.
Here's what we did tonight though:
That's dh and his guitar jamming in Westport Harbor with a bunch of other bluegrass pickers. I took pictures and then sat with my knitting and enjoyed the music. I never go anywhere without my Emergency Knitting!

Some more natural NJ beauty
I want to share a few more of the photos that I took at my dad's in NJ. They have these wonderful purple plants along the sides and in the front of their home. These plants seem to be a magnet for butterflies and here are some of the pix I took of these gorgeous creatures.
I hope you aren't getting too tired of all my photographic experimentation. I love my camera and am really having such fun learning how to use it.

Sentimental Sundays Challenge
Well this week Ann challenged us to make a card using a new style or technique. I've never been very good at making fancy fold cards and so have stayed away from them for the most part. I went to a wonderful stamp camp a while back though and my wonderful upline Pat and I made a cute, cute card using this z-fold technique. You'll see that one a bit later in the month, but here is another that I created using that technique. I might just get comfortable enough to do this in a workshop soon!
I'm headed for Rhode Island and the boat today and will hopefully be able to post from the water tomorrow! I have only seen the boat from the outside and have never been on board and I am very excited (and also a bit scared). This is truly going to be the adventure of a lifetime for me.
Thanks for visiting!
