Rose Hill Grange - 8/26/17 - Cards

I intended to post these much earlier this week, but ... I lost them ... and then I found them!  So here they are:

As always, the demonstrators and the campers had a ton of fun!  We had several demonstrators that were new to this camp and hopefully they will be back in the future!  Lots and lots of creative fun was had by all.  The next camp is on September 30 and I think we are all really looking forward to it.  I will have more details on that soon!

I will be back tomorrow with a new Friday Freebie so please check in tomorrow!

Thanks for visiting!

Freebie Friday - August 25, 2017

I have a whimsical (and hopefully also encouraging) freebie for you today:

I created this background while playing with two of my Stampin' Up! buddies (thanks Bev and Cathy)!  We were experimenting with a technique we saw HERE using distress oxide inks, water and stencils.  It was so much fun!  This card is actually very, very sparkly in real life, but I couldn't quite get the camera to pick up on that.  Once the inking and stenciling was done, I sprayed with with a gorgeous shimmer spray and I really like how it turned out.  I created several backgrounds and you may see more of them cropping up here from time to time.

The card base is Daffodil Delight and the first layer is Melon Mambo.  I used a couple of leaves and a stamp from this month's Paper Pumpkin kit too!

Thanks for visiting!

The Rose Hill Grange Stamp Camp is this Saturday.  This is always a fun and creative camp and if you want more details about it, check the flyer at the bottom of this post.  Here is the card the campers will be making at my table:

The materials used in this card are:
The label stamp and die set and the Painted Harvest bundle will be available for sale on September 1.  If you want a copy of the new Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog, I am sure there will be plenty of them available at this camp.

Here is some more information on this fun event:

Holiday Catalog Demo Swap

I finally settled on a design for my holiday catalog swap.  I chose the Carols of Christmas bundle and went through a couple different designs before settling on this one:

I got my inspiration from this card and just switched up a couple of things to make it more my own.  Here are the supplies I used:
I have to warn you that the border die in this bundle is a little tricky to use if you are trying to make a full frame.  The videos make it look easier than it is, but when you get it right, it is totally awesome!  I may end up using different (read larger) stars on this as well because gluing those tiny little stars onto the dsp may make me go blind, but it was fun doing the prototype!  I may also experiment with some Shimmery White cardstock or maybe a little Wink of Stella to give it some sparkle, we'll see.

I forgot to add the Delightful Daisy dsp into the materials table, but I am totally in love with all the patterns in this pack!  They are perfect for so many different types of cards!

Longmont Senior Center - August 21, 2017 - Last Card

Here is the last card we will be making today at the Longmont Senior Center:

You can see the others here, here and here.  This card uses a card base of Tranquil Tide and a strip of the Fresh Florals dsp pack mounted on a layer of heavy white cardstock.  The leaves are from the Colorful Seasons stamp set and die bundle and were stamped with Early Espresso ink on Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry and Tranquil Tide and then cut using the accompanying die.  The sentiments both inside and out are from the Painted Harvest set which will be on sale starting September 1..

I was inspired by this card, but found that using the delicate die was just not working out for me and thought that the solid leaf would be easier for my seniors to work with.  I think it came out just as nice though!

I also wanted to share another project with you.  I have been making these shopping bags for a couple of years now.  They are the perfect project for when we are out on the boat or traveling in the RV or when we are watching the Rockies hopefully beat whoever they are playing against!  They are fun and easy and my mom just loves hers.
I am not particularly good at taking pictures of my needlework projects, but wanted to share this one.  This one is done in pale yellows and white, but I also love to make them in much more colorful shades.  My mom particularly likes the turquoise/.white/purple ones I make!  I was really afraid I was going to run out of this yellow cotton yarn and have to use some other colors to finish the handle, but as you can see I made it with a little to spare!  This is a crochet project that combines several different patterns as the original pattern I was using had handles that just were not as sturdy as I hoped they would be.  My mom tends to fill these to capacity (and then some) and the handles really needed to be sturdier.

I have finally decided on the design for my holdiay catalog swap with some of my fellow demonstrators and will show that to you later in the week along with my project for this Saturday's Rose Hill Grange stamp camp.  Here is some more info on that camp:
It is really a very fun camp and we always have a wonderful time stamping and creating together.  If you want additional information about this camp, please leave me a comment or send me an email (link in the sidebar).

The colors used on these are Daffodil Delight and Tranquil Tide, such a great combination.  The designer paper is from the fun Delightful Daisy pack.  I used the daisy stamp from Daisy Delight and the coordinating punch.  On the second card the same colors were used, but I used a retired stamp set called Grateful Bunch with it's coordinating punch.  I added some wonderful glitter enamel dots and called it complete.

Longmont Senior Center - August 21, 2017 - another card

Here is another card we will be making at the Longmont Senior Center on August 21:

Fall is definitely in the air (at least for the moment) here in Colorado.  I have already seen evidence of leaves changing!  Days are getting shorter and nights are getting longer.  The kids have all returned to school.  Soon it will be time to begin preparing in earnest for our sailing adventure - hopefully we will be Bahamas bound this winter!

This card base is Cajun Craze (my absolute "go to" color for fall).  The brick panel was created by using the brick embossing folder and then stamping the Watercolor Wash stamp on top.  A little sponging around the edges gives it that feeling of "old" brick.  The leaves were cut out of some retired dsp and the sentiment came out of my "punchables" boxes.  These are stamps that fit really well into a punch and come from all over.  I've been collecting them for years.  The daisy is from the Delightful Daisy set and was stamped twice on Crushed Curry using Cajun Craze.  I punched them with the daisy punch and adhered them with dimensionals.  Quick and easy and I think perfect for fall!

If you want more information about the class at the Longmont Senior Center, ,just leave me a comment or send me an email (link in the sidebar).  This is a monthly class and we really have a lot of fun.
