Sassy Chic Stamp Camp - May 2020, Part 1

Today and tomorrow I will be featuring the cards we made for the virtual Sassy Chic Stamp Camp in May.  Here is the first group:

Colorful Thanks

I wanted a pop of color in my life today and so I made this card:

It's an image from Bugaboo that I colored with my Stampin' Blends.  The card base is Highland Heather.  The Daffodil Delight layer was stamped using the two daisies from Daisy Lane in Daffodil Delight.  I layered the colored image on some Flirty Flamingo card stock and die cut a black thanks and it was done!

I hope to spend some time today checking out some of my new items from the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog.  The catalog goes live on June 3 and I can hardly wait! It's an exciting time of the year for anyone who loves Stampin' Up!

New in the Craft Cage

I got my pre-order of the new Stampin' Up! stuff and I am so excited.  I have been going through the haul and decided to try the dies that come with the Blossoms in Bloom stamp set.  These are some very dramatic dies!  Here is a card I made with them:

I have no idea what this card will end up with inside, but the outside is just gorgeous as far as I am concerned.  The inner layer is Pacific Point and the outline layer is Balmy Breeze.  It is mounted on a base of basic black and I think it is stunning!  A simple and really straightforward design that I think really packs a punch!

Sneak Peek at some new goodies

I spent yesterday finishing up my cards for Stamp Camp North.  Whew ... so glad they are done!  I will deliver them this afternoon, but in the meantime I snuck a few moments to play with some of my goodies from the new Stampin' Up! 2020-2021 catalog.  Here's the quick and easy card I made:

The card base is one of the new in-colors, Just Jade.  Although I am really going to miss those bright colors that retired this year, this is one of a lovely palette of new in-colors and I like it.  There is a layer of black cardstock and then a layer of dsp from the Forever Greenery pack.  The sentiment is from a new set called Forever Fern.  I also used a new set of dies called Tasteful Labels to cut the sentiment out.  The black label was cut with a die from the Stitched Nested Labels set and I punched a couple of slots in either end with an old retired punch from Sampin' Up!  I added a strip of the new Just Jade ribbon and called it done.  I can't wait until we can order the ink pads.  There are some really awesome greenery stamps in this stamp set and I am itching to ink them up.

Stella Says Sketch Challenge 810

I have 3 grandchildren graduating from 8th grade and going on to high school this year.  YIKES!  How did that happen? I played along in the Bugaboo Stella Says Sketch Challenge 810:

This is one of the cards I will be giving them:

The card base is Daffodil Delight with an embossed layer of Smoky Slate.  I cut the image out using some old Spellbinders dies from my stash.  The little graduation cap is an edited image from Bugaboo that I cut on my Scan n Cut machine.  The sentiment was computer generated and the cap and the sentiment were layered on a strip of Daffodil Delight using dimensionals.  I colored the Bugaboo images with some alcohol markers from my stash.

This was a fun card to make - only 2 more to go!  Four of my six grandchildren will now be in high school next year and it is just so hard to comprehend that they are soon to be entering adulthood, they were just babies yesterday!

Stamp Camp North - card for May!

We have been attempting to stay in contact with our crafty friends by having virtual stamp camps.  I made cards for the Sassy Chic Camp using a variation of THIS CARD.  For the upcoming Stamp Camp North, I am making this card:

The card base is Pear Pizzazz with a layer of Soft Seafoam under the DSP from the Garden Lane set.  I die cut one of the labels from the Ornate Labels die set in Pear Pizzazz and added a Happy Birthday sentiment stamped in Mossy Meadow on some white that was stamped with the leaves from the Very Versailles stamp set in Soft Seafoam.  I really like how it came out.

Splash of Color for Depressing Days

Here is another of the Covid 19 cards I made by playing with my font files and word processor:

I have had a couple pieces of this colorful paper floating around in my scrap pile for ages.  I have no idea where it came from or where I got it, but I love it and knew I would find a use for it.  I used a typewriter font on plain white cardstock and printed the two sentiments.  The card base is Pineapple Punch (so sad it's retiring) and the layers on the sentiments are Pineapple Punch and Pacific Point.  I used some old scallop punches for the layers and I really like the larger scallops on these.  Some of the newer punches and dies use a much smaller scallop. I thought it was a fun and fitting card for perking someone up who has been dealing with this pandemic.

Another Covid 19 Reminder

This is another card I made using some of the printed sentiments I made using my font collection and my computer:

This card uses a Soft Seafoam base that was embossed with the Coastal Weave embossing folder.  I added part of a strip of houses and trees from a die in my stash out of Mossy Meadow and I trimmed it a bit to fit the card.  The sentiments were printed on plain white cardstock and mounted on accent pieces of Pineapple Crush.  Simple, easy and hopefully conveys the message!

We are Safe at Home (just as our Governor has asked us to be) and are doing just fine.  DH is getting tons and tons of yard work done and I am spending lots of time playing in the craft cave and I have actually ventured out and into the kitchen and made some banana peanut butter bread.  It's really tasty toasted in the morning!  I am delivering my cards for the Sassy Chic virtual stamp camp this morning and then I will start working on the cards for our virtual Stamp Camp North. I will share that with you when I figure out what I am making - LOL!

Retro Rubber Challenge #134

I don't often do challenges these days, but couldn't resist this since I have been itching to ink up this stamp set for a while now.  The card is for the Retro Rubber Challenge #134:

This is one of the first stamp sets I bought when I became a Stampin' Up! demonstrator back in 2007,  In Full Bloom is a set from 2004 and it contains some gorgeous images.  It has been retired for years but I have never wanted to part with it. It has always been a favorite of mine and it was fun to ink it up and color it.  Here's the card:

I kept it fairly simple as I really wanted to highlight the image.  The card base is Highland Heather with a layer of Pear Pizzazz that was embossed with an embossing folder from SAB.  Unfortunately, it is not in the new catalog, but I really like it and am keeping it around! The flower and stem were stamped on white with Memento black and then colored with Stampin' Blends.  I cut it out with one of my favorite dies from the Ornate Layers set.  I rounded the corners as it seemed kind of clunky and I do like the result.

I am keeping pretty busy with cleaning and organizing the craft cave, but am also participating in some "virtual" stamp camps.  We all feel the loss of the time we spend together as demonstrators and with the wonderful campers that come to these camps.  Sassy Chic, Stamp Camp North and the Rose Hill Grange Stamp Camp are all doing virtual camps this month and may continue it next month depending on the pandemic situation.  If you have any questions about how this works, just leave a comment or shoot me an email (link is in the sidebar). Mother's Day Freebie Sentiment #7

Here is the last in the series of Mother's Day sentiments for this year:

To download these, right click on the image and select the option "save as"  to save to your own computer.  I use a word processing program (like Microsoft Word or Word Perfect) to insert these into a document, size them appropriately and then simply print on heavy card stock and cut it out with either a punch or a die.

Here is a card I made with this sentiment:

The card base on this card is Gorgeous Grape and there is a layer of Highland Heather under the stamped plaid.  This is another card I made with the Concord & 9th diagonal plaid stamp set.  I can't tout it's virtues enough.  I love it! The sentiment was printed on white, colored with blends and cut out with the Stitched Shapes dies and then mounted on a Gorgeous Grape piece cut using the Layering Squares dies.

A message in these difficult days

There is much to be grateful for these days, even if sometimes it doesn't feel like it.  I have been seeing creations out there by people attempting to inject a bit of hope into desperation, and I thought I'd do my small part:

I created this sentiment to fit into a heart shape and then decided it needed something more, so I added an encouraging word.  I printed up a bunch using some different fonts of both the heart message and the encouraging word and will be sending these out to folks that need a little lift right now.  I didn't create these in my graphics program, just on a word processor so they aren't going to be freebies, but I encourage all you creative people out there to put your crafting caps on and do the same!

The card base is Mossy Meadow with a layer of Rococo Rose die cut with the Ornate Layers dies.  I added a layer of Ornate Garden designer series paper that was cut using the Ornate Layers dies and then punched a scalloped heart from Mossy Meadow and added the sentiment punched with the plain heart.  The encouraging word was cut out and mounted on a piece of Mossy Meadow.  I added some gold accents to the corners of the dsp piece and it was done.

Here's a card I made with this sentiment:

The card base on this card is Purple Posy, a color I have not yet used from the 2019-2020 crop of in-colors.  The ink turned out to be a bust, but the paper is actually very nice! There is a layer of white cut using the largest layer die from the Ornate Layers set.  The next layer is Mint Macaron cut with the next sized die from the Ornate Layers set.  I cut the sentiment using the Stitched Nested Labels dies.  This is a delicate and very feminine card that I think any mother would appreciate.

Can't seem to get away from Thoughtful Blooms

Thoughtful blooms was a Sale-a-Bration stamp set and you could also get a cute punch to punch out the flowers.  Needless to say, I got both of them and have had so much fun playing with it.  I have lots of cards made with it, but I only have a picture of one of them:

I will have to go through the stash and see if I can find some others as this is a really fun set with lots of options.  The punch is carrying over to the new catalog and I can't wait to see what kind of stamp set will utilize it.  The card base is Rococo Rose and I added a panel of white that is stamped with the swish from the Label Me Bold stamp set in Gorgeous Grape, Bermuda Bay, Pineapple Crush and Rococo Rose.  I added flowers stamped off in those colors with rhinestones in the centers and punched them out with the flower punch.  The sentiment is from Label Me Bold and was stamped in Rococo Rose, cut out and popped up on a piece of Rococo Rose.  Very simple and easy card.

The card base is Mint Macaron with a layer of Highland Heather embossed with the Coastal Weave embossing folder.  I added a panel of Highland Heather paper from the subtles dsp collection.  I die cut the sentiment using the Stitched Shapes dies and layered it on a Mint Macaron die cut from the Layering Circles dies.  I added a couple of Clear Epoxy Droplets for a little bling.

Just playing around

With so much time on my hands, I have been playing a bit with things I haven't done in quite a while, namely coloring digital images.  I have a ton of images from Bugaboo.  I used to be on their design team eons ago and I love their Friday Freebies.  Here's some cards I made with last week's Friday Freebie:

I used some dies that I got from my friend Judy Bennett on the first two and then a Stampin' Up! die from the Ornate Layers die set for the last one.  All the paper used is from Stampin' Up! but the coloring tools are from various alchohol marker and watercolor marker sets that I have in my stash.  So fun to play with these toys that I purchased and never used until now.  I think I still prefer using my Stampin' Blends as the colors are already associated both with each other (i.e. light and dark of each color) and also that they match the paper and ink colors so perfectly.
