Stella Says Sketch Challenge 810

I have 3 grandchildren graduating from 8th grade and going on to high school this year.  YIKES!  How did that happen? I played along in the Bugaboo Stella Says Sketch Challenge 810:

This is one of the cards I will be giving them:

The card base is Daffodil Delight with an embossed layer of Smoky Slate.  I cut the image out using some old Spellbinders dies from my stash.  The little graduation cap is an edited image from Bugaboo that I cut on my Scan n Cut machine.  The sentiment was computer generated and the cap and the sentiment were layered on a strip of Daffodil Delight using dimensionals.  I colored the Bugaboo images with some alcohol markers from my stash.

This was a fun card to make - only 2 more to go!  Four of my six grandchildren will now be in high school next year and it is just so hard to comprehend that they are soon to be entering adulthood, they were just babies yesterday!

Retro Rubber Challenge #134

I don't often do challenges these days, but couldn't resist this since I have been itching to ink up this stamp set for a while now.  The card is for the Retro Rubber Challenge #134:

This is one of the first stamp sets I bought when I became a Stampin' Up! demonstrator back in 2007,  In Full Bloom is a set from 2004 and it contains some gorgeous images.  It has been retired for years but I have never wanted to part with it. It has always been a favorite of mine and it was fun to ink it up and color it.  Here's the card:

I kept it fairly simple as I really wanted to highlight the image.  The card base is Highland Heather with a layer of Pear Pizzazz that was embossed with an embossing folder from SAB.  Unfortunately, it is not in the new catalog, but I really like it and am keeping it around! The flower and stem were stamped on white with Memento black and then colored with Stampin' Blends.  I cut it out with one of my favorite dies from the Ornate Layers set.  I rounded the corners as it seemed kind of clunky and I do like the result.

I am keeping pretty busy with cleaning and organizing the craft cave, but am also participating in some "virtual" stamp camps.  We all feel the loss of the time we spend together as demonstrators and with the wonderful campers that come to these camps.  Sassy Chic, Stamp Camp North and the Rose Hill Grange Stamp Camp are all doing virtual camps this month and may continue it next month depending on the pandemic situation.  If you have any questions about how this works, just leave a comment or shoot me an email (link is in the sidebar). I also placed my pre-order from the new Stampin' Up! annual catalog and hope to have some new toys to play with very soon! PP303 - A color challenge!

I really loved the color challenge this week at Paper Players:  Mint Macaron, Island Indigo and Sweet Sugarplum:

Here's my card:

I used a 110 lb. Neenah White card base and sponged the three colors through a template cut from vellum.  The dragonfly is just a small single stamp I picked up at a LSS and it along with the sentiment are stamped in Memento black.  I brushed some clear Wink of Stella on the dragonflies and added a couple small dots of Crystal Blizzard Nuvo crystal drops.  The lettering is a new (to me) set that I snagged when it became available again from Altenew and it is called Invisible Alpha.

Paper Players Challenge #300

I've been getting some new goodies from the new Stampin' Up! catalog and have finally had a few minutes to play with them.  Paper Players is celebrating their 300th challenge post!  I love seeing these challenges and the wonderful creations that the design team comes up with.  I decided this time I would play along:

I know this is a clean and simple challenge, but this die cut just screams for a little bling so I added some tiny pearls.  Here are the products that I used on this card:

I used a retired in-color called Lost Lagoon.  I totally love this color and have a stash of the paper and a couple re-inkers so that I can keep using it!

I also made a couple other cards using this motif that are no so clean and simple:

It was just too much fun to just make one!  The first card uses rhinestones and the other card uses a matted die cut image along with another die cut from that set along with a gold mounted sentiment that ties into the gold bling.  I had such fun making these!

Little Miss Muffet Challenge

The wonderful folks at Little Miss Muffet Stamps kindly invited me to be a guest designer for this week's challenge on the Little Miss Muffet Challenge blog.  The challenge this week is "It's Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas" and I used this adorable Holiday Christmas Tree digital stamp for my project.

The background is a retired (unmounted) Stampin' Up! wheel that I just love and I stamped it using Whisper White ink.  The tree was colored using Copic markers with the star and balls also colored with SU Dazzling Details and added some "snow" using liquid applique puffed with a heat gun.  I cut it and the scalloped oval out using Spellbinders dies. I created a digital sentiment to fit in a Spellbinders label die to use for my sentiment.   This was a fun and easy project to make.

Hi my name is Chris ....

...and I have not blogged in nearly a week! What can I say - busy, busy, busy and it's a good thing not bad so I cannot complain. One thing I have to say about my life - it's never, ever boring!

Anyway - I played a bit with our new Grand Calibur and some mega nesties and made this shaped card for this week's challenge on the Delightful Inspirations blog:

D2D Challenge

Still fighting with Mr. Blogger - he's winning so far but I have a plan....

I have a card for this week's Designed to Delight challenge:

The card uses a recently released set from D2D that is so cute. Card base is Old Olive and I've used Pacific Point, Melon Mambo, some bg dsp and my lacey square nesties die. I colored the image with Copics and I am slowly but surely getting a bit more confident and adventurous with using them.

I have to stop typing now as the keys on my keyboard are really sticking (couldn't possibly have anything to do with that Dr. P I spilled on it this afternoon). Guess it's time for a new keyboard. I tried cleaning it and it just isn't working out. I really want a wireless keyboard anyway! I'll be back soon with some Mother's Day cards I made to share with you. Hopefully, with a nice new keyboard to type my post on too!!!!!

Some More Postage Stamps

Blogger continues to be problematic but ....

I'm going to try this anyway. I have been experimenting with creating some postage stamps using my blank template, the die from Whimsy Stamps and some images that I have collected.





Card #1 uses the freebie from Heartsong Designs that appeared in yesterdays post (click here to see that post). The other two feature digital images from Wax Fruit Company and you should DEFINITELY pay her blog a visit and check out the fantastic digital artwork she has to offer there.
