Longmont Senior Center - June 19, 2017

Here are the cards we made at last month's Longmont Senior Center class:

This class is a lot of fun.  We make 3-4 cards each month and the gals seem to really enjoy themselves. Our next class is on July 17.  If you are in the area and want further information, just email me (left sidebar) or leave a comment below.

We got a chance to use a bunch of new items from the 2017-2018 Annual Catalog too!  Here are some of the products we used:

Another item off my bucket list!

We took a trip with the kids in the RV to South Dakota.  None of us had ever been to Mt. Rushmore before so it was quite a thrill for all of us!

We were up there for a bluegrass festival that was fun for everyone, but not quite as family oriented as Grandpa and I would have liked.  We visited Mt. Rushmore on our way home!  Clockwise from the top its:  Grandpa, Grandma, Isabella, Justice and Julian.  Isabella and Julian are our twins and their story is on my blog HERE.

What A Long, Strange Trip It's Been

I am really having a hard time coping with the fact that it has been so very long since I have posted on this blog!

I really thought that retirement meant less stress, less "work" and more time ... LOL!

Since retiring things have done nothing but get busier and more complicated!  I'm not complaining (well maybe just a little) but, holy mackerel batman!

I have been absent from this space, but things have definitely not been too calm nor quiet!  I have been creating and teaching and interacting with my loved ones and it really has totally consumed life right now.

We are in the throes of summer and that means that 3 of our grandchildren are with us about 50 hours a week.  Any of you with grandchildren have to know how all consuming this situation is.  We are having fun (mostly) and just trying to get from one day to the next without killing anyone!

I have continued to participate in stamp camps and work with my PJT (Project Give Thanks) group and I am also teaching a monthly class at a local senior center.  There really is not a huge lack of creativity going on right now - just a complete and total lack of time to share that.  But I miss everyone!

We shall see where things progress from here.  We have a bit more time before the kids go back to school and a bit of time before we head back to Florida and the boat.  I am determined to find a bit more time for a bunch of other things too!

Thanks for hanging in there and thanks for visiting!   Stay tuned for (hopefully) some progress on posting!

We're Back!

We are back from a quick trip to Florida for my mom's 85th birthday and to make some needed repairs to the boat.  It took most of the month of February, so I did not do any camps or make any cards, or do much of anything except crochet grocery bags for my mom.  She is doing well after suffering another small stroke and we are all hopeful she will fully recover.

Stamp Camp North in Westminster, Colorado is coming up this weekend and I just can't wait to get back in the swing of things.  Here's my card:

As I said, I am hoping to get back into the swing of things now that we are back and planning to be home until next sailing season when we hope to head for the Bahamas!

I make no promises about regular posting, I have learned better than to do that, but I will try.  There are exciting things happening in the stamping community here and hopefully I will be able to share some of them with all of you! Thanks for hanging in there with me!

And now they are 11!

How is this possible?  Here's a video that I have shared before of their beginnings:

And now they are 11 years old!!!  I have shared pictures of these precious children many times in the past - here, and here, and here.  There are more but regrettably not any current.  I hope to remedy that soon!  They are blossoming and growing and becoming more wonderful with each passing year.  This grandma is so very, very proud of these two.  They have come a very long way and it has not always been easy, but they hang in there and continue to grow into strong and independent individuals!  Happy, Happy, Happy 11th birthday to Isabella and Julian!

Rose Hill Grange Stamp Camp - 1/28/2017

The Rose Hill Grange Stamp Camp is coming up this weekend.  2017 launches with this camp going monthly instead of every other month.  We are very excited about that.  Here is the info:

This is a very fun camp and everyone is looking forward to this being a monthly adventure!  My granddaughter Isabella is really excited as this will make 2 camps a month she gets to go to and help grandma with her table. She's a real trouper and it is good for her to be able to spend some time with the ladies that attend.

This is the card the campers will be making at my table:

The campers will have choices for the dsp (Pretty Petals - retired) and a choice of the single or the flight of dragonflies in gold foil (Detailed Dragonfly thinlits).  The card base is Pacific Point with layers of Very Vanilla and Calypso Coral.  I added a strip of Basic Black grossgrain ribbon (retired) and stamped the spots from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set in Calypso Coral.  The sentiment is also from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and was stamped in Basic Black Archival ink.  They will have a choice of sentiments for the inside.

Stamp Camp North - January 14, 2017

Yesterday was DH's 73rd birthday!  The kids and grandkids were here to help celebrate with food, football and, of course, birthday cake.  I don't get a chance to do the cooking very often, but I did get to cook yesterday and had a ball!  Not much else got done though so I'm back today with the cards from Stamp Camp North:

This was the prepay gift that the campers that signed up in advance received:

Everyone had a wonderful time!  This camp is always so much fun and there's another coming up in February:
I won't get to be there as we will be visiting with my mother for her 85th birthday!!!  We are getting the chance to do a bit of "land cruising" in the RV and plan to take Maude (our elderly cat - she's 19) with us.  She has been an indoor cat her entire life so this will be a totally new experience for all of us.  While in Florida we have some maintenance work to do on the boat so that we will be ready to sail next season.  We are putting off sailing this season due to a few health issues for both of us that hopefully will be resolved by next time around.

More Valentine's Day Cards ...

Here's a couple more Valentines:

These were both made with current SU product with the exception of the little punched hearts.  Such a shame this punch retired as those hearts fit so perfectly into the recessed hearts on the embossing folder.  Luckily, punches are one thing (among way too many things) that I hold on to even after they retire!

Card stock colors used here:  Real Red, Watermelon Wonder, Whisper White.  I think they look smashing together.  What do you think?

These were lots of fun to make and the colors came after a breakfast with two of my all time favorite ladies!  Thanks you guys for giving me such inspiration and support.

Variations on a theme ...

After making one V-day card, I got hooked and made some more.  Here are a couple using parts and pieces I had on my desk:

These use old and new SU stamps and dies and current card stock colors.  I'll have a couple more soon using some current products with colors talked about over breakfast with a couple of my demo besties.
