NJ Nature Studies

I got a chance to play with my camera in my dad's back yard during my visit. I took some very fun pictures and wanted to share them with you. Here's some florals:

I'll be taking the train tomorrow from Newark to Providence where dh will meet me and we'll head to the boat. Last trip I took on this train I snapped some fun pictures and we'll see if I get any this time. I have some more pix from dad's backyard to share next week too!

Thanks for visiting!

Made it to NJ

Well I made it as far as New Jersey yesterday and am enjoying a visit with family and friends. I got some pix of cards taken before I left and I hope to be sharing those with you over the next month as I won't be creating anything new till I get back to Colorado on August 29! I am already going through crafting withdrawal and it's only been one day! I did bring some knitting along though so all is not lost but I sure will be glad to see my paper, rubber and ink when I get home. I am looking forward to finding out all about life aboard though. Should be very interesting!

Here's a card for you:

This is the other card we made at the bunco party the other night. I have to send a big thank you out to Jennifer for including me in her event - it was a real blast and I think that I am going to organize a bunco night with some of my stamp camp gals when I get back home. This was another easy and elegant card made with the Because I Care hostess set from the new catalog.

Thanks for visiting!

Bunco Card

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of attending a bunco stamping event held by a fellow demonstrator. The dice game is lots of fun and in between rounds we did make & take projects. Our hostess had wonderful munchies and great prizes too! Here is one of our projects:

For those of you curious about my garlic harvest, here's a picture of all of it on the drying rack:

I leave tomorrow morning for New Jersey to visit with family and friends and then on Sunday I head for Rhode Island to meet up with dh (who I haven't seen since May 12) and I will be spending the month of August on the boat! I'm hoping to schedule some posts of my card projects and also to add some posts of my travels as I go, but internet access will be off and on depending on where we are. I'm going to be working on the redesign of the Kaboodle Doodles website and might even do a bit of change-up here too while I'm at it. Freshen things up a bit! Hang in there with me over the next few weeks and don't give up on me if days go by with no posts - it only means that I'm out on the water enjoying the sun, surf and the company of my dh!

A little rant ....

Is it just me or does anyone else totally hate the whole "new release" crap where they show you all these wonderful things and then make you wait, and wait, and wait until you are able to buy them. So many stamp companies have their "sneak peeks" and "previews" every single month and then every time CHA rolls around we get a huge crop of stuff that you can drool over but not be able to buy for weeks or months even.

I'm just saying ......

enough already with the teasing and tormenting!

I'm done now. Be back later with some actual stuff!

It's time for a new Challenge on Kaboodle Doodles

Well it's that time again - time for a new challenge on the Kaboodle Doodles challenge blog. This time it's a color challenge:

Here's my card:

Card base is Pear Pizzazz with accents of Poppy Parade and Lavender Lace. The image is from Meljen's Designs and the sentiment is from the lovely Ann Vento. I used a nestie for the image background and a punch for the sentiment. The image was colored using re-inkers and an aqua-painter and I added some pearls for a little zip.

Our sponsor this week is Meljen's Designs and Melissa is one very talented lady. She generously gave the dt some images to work with and I think they made the most of them!

It's a Sentimental Sunday!

Well it's time for another Sentimental Sundays challenge. This week Ann told us to have FUN! Here's my fun card:

Card base is Kiwi Kiss and I used Pretty in Pink and Lovely Lavender too! I love this image from Meljen's Designs and the sentiment is (of course) from Ann Vento! I added a Pretty in Pink bow and some fun buttons and viola - a fun card.

I'm going a bit crazy getting ready to head east to join dh for a month on our sailboat. I'm not taking stamping stuff, but I'll have a few cards to share in spite of that. I'm taking my camera though and hope to be able to share some of my adventures with all of you.

Thanks for visiting!

Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge

I picked up this Recollections Summer Flower paper several weeks ago and have really wanted to use it. Today's sketch challenge provided a perfect opportunity. Here's my card:

Card base is Pear Pizzazz with a crimped Pear Pizzazz panel and three dsp panels on a black background. The Peach Parfait "ribbon" was created with the new Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch from SU. The doily is from MS and was sponged with Peach Parfait and the little butterfly was punched from the dp scraps with a MS butterfly punch and decorated with some gold accents. The sentiment was stamped in black and is from Inkadinkado.

A Bit of a Challenge

There's a couple of challenges I took note of that I really wanted to play along with. One was the Kickin' It for Michelle card drive on A Spoonful of Sugar. You can get more information and read about Michelle on her blog. The second was a challenge to use gingham on your card on the Basic Grey Challenge blog. Here's my card:

The image and sentiment are part of a freebie set designed by Melissa Jenkins and Ann Vento. You can pick this freebie up here and make a card to send to Michele to help her get through this difficult time. Card base is Marina Mist with a layer of Pumpkin Pie under a piece of BG designer paper from the Max & Whiskers collection. The image was colored using re-inkers and an aqua-painter (what else is new).

I can see clearly now ......

It's time for another Sentimental Sundays challenge and this week we were to use a clear element on our cards. Please stop by the Sentimental Sundays blog and check out all the fantastic creations by my fellow design team members, goodness abounds over there! Here's my contribution:

Card base is Rich Razzleberry with a panel of Marina Mist and another of some fantastic new Bo Bunny designer paper. I just love Bo Bunny papers, especially when they go so very well with my SU cardstock! The image (Hero Arts) and sentiment (Ann Vento) are mounted on Peach Parfait and I added some of the new Peach Parfait stitched poly ribbon (SU). I went through my button stash and came across an unopened package of clear buttons from SU and added some Marina Mist ribbon to finish this off. I really wanted to use some window sheets on this card, but have lost my stash in my reorganization efforts and have yet to find them! My cleanup/reorg of the crafty studio is coming along very nicely, but I need to now re-learn where things are!

Tomorrow also brings a new challenge on the Kaboodle Doodles Challenge blog and there will also be a BIG announcement, so make sure you stop by.

I've moved my garden photo slideshow to the bottom of the blog, so if you want to see some of my photography just scroll down! Thanks.

Delighful Downline Picnic

I am lucky enough to have the best upline in the world! She had several of us up to her cabin in the mountains today for a wonderful lunch and an afternoon of stamping and sharing. I will put up pix of the other projects tomorrow (after I can take pictures with some natural light), but here is the make and take that I brought to to the party.

I wanted us to play with some of the new goodies in the new catalog. The flowers are the new paper flowers and we spritzed them with a mixture of Pacific Point re-inker, Champagne Mist paint and de-natured alcohol in a mini-spritzer bottle and then topped the flower off with some of the new rhinestones and pearls. Card base is (my total fave) Pacific Point with some Sahara Sand and the new Blueberry Crisp designer paper with an accent of the fun new lace. The sentiment is from the new level 1 hostess set called Afterthoughts.

Of course, I couldn't head into the mountains without taking some pix of the marvelous flora could I? I also snapped a pix of my fellow stampers at the picnic table on the river and a close up of that fast moving river too!

It was a simply fantastic afternoon - THANKS PAT!

A Challenging Card

The girls came over to stamp last night and WOW did they make some wonderful cards. I have to get a light box, or build one, or something because I really wanted to take some pictures but didn't want to do them an injustice by not having decent light. I made this card for LPSC74 and MOJO146:

I was able to get some nice direct sunlight this morning! Rumor has it that there is a cold front moving in today bringing more clouds and rain so I'm glad I snapped this before it got gray again!

Slowly but surely the mojo is returning!

It's a Sentimental Sundays Challenge - Celebrate!

The ever talented Ann Vento, our fearless leader over at the Sentimental Sundays challenge blog has posed a wonderful challenge this week and is offering another of her wonderful sentiments sets free for the next week! Here's the card I made:

Our nephew and his wife just welcomed a new baby girl into our family and so I thought it was a perfect opportunity to ink up the new Baby Bundle set from SU and I also got a chance to use one of the new framed sentiments that I have been working on. Look for a chance to download those coming soon.

This card is also being submitted for the Paper Players Challenge #5 - Oh Baby!

It Never Ceases to Amaze Me!

Remember this:
Well, take a look at her now!

I really thought that the hail damage was going to be a fatal blow to this beauty, but .... I was very pleasantly surprised to find her healthy and ready to bloom when I returned from Alaska. Isn't she just gorgeous? We had a little rain shower yesterday afternoon and when it stopped and the sun came out, I just had to snap some pix.

Finally - a card!

My mojo is sneaking back a little at a time and I made this card after hearing about some of the great seafood dishes dh is enjoying out there on the New England coast.

I have another flower post for you too - illustrating the wonderful resilience of nature - watch for that later today! Tomorrow it's time for another challenge on the Sentimental Sundays blog too so stay tuned for that as well!

Blooming Alaksa!

With the extended hours of sunlight at this time of the year, things are really blooming in Alaska. I didn't get as much chance to get out and about and the sun wasn't really cooperating either, but one morning I captured these beauties on the patio of my hotel.

No cards yet - but I think I hear my mojo coming back home so hopefully very soon I 'll have some fun things to share.

Thanks for visiting!
