Hybrid Project

I have been collecting digital scrapbooking kits with the hope that one of these days when I have some "free" time I can learn how to use them. I decided that in the meantime, I'm going to wing it and use some of these elements in my cards. This set is an example of this.

This is the set all "tied up"

This is the set opened up:

This is the inside of the cards:

These are all the cards:

The card carrier was inspired by this made by Becky Roberts of Inking Idaho. I have purchased some of her kits in the past and let me tell you - they are great! Fantastic illustrations and great directions. Check out her blog and see all the wonderful stuff she has there.

The marbled green paper and the circle, stems and birdhouse branch are all digital elements from a scrapbook kit called In my Garden by Jot and Scribble that I purchased from Two Little Pixels. I have Photoshop Elements, but don't know how to use it yet, so in true winging it fashion, I just opened up Word Perfect and set up a 4x4 page and put the graphics in and arranged them the way I wanted them. I printed it out using my Canon color printer and then cut them out and mounted them on the black and Pumpkin Pie mats. I did the same with the design on the inside of the card. The butterfly was stamped on Whisper White with Black Craft ink, heat embossed with clear embossing powder then colored with SU markers, punched out and mounted on a Pumpkin Pie scallop circle. The greetings are all from SU and were stamped directly on the dp with Black Craft and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I cut the handles using the large oval punch by SU and made the scallop around it using a Marvy scalloped oval. The trim on the inside pockets is Whisper White punched with a Fiskars edge punch and trimmed with a strip of Pumpkin Pie and some black velvet ribbon from SU.

I really had fun doing this, even if it wasn't done in a very conventional manner. Let me know what you think of it.

Thanks for visiting. Recovery is coming along nicely and I'm going to try taking a walk this morning remotely with my blogging buddy Diane. Check out her blog as she has some really nice things to share!
