Workshop project

I have a workshop on Sunday and the gals wanted to make a card folder with some cards. Here's my idea:

Card:

Folder:
Recipe:
Stamps: Garden Greetings
Paper: Kiwi Kiss, Baja Breeze, Whisper White, Walk in the Part dp
Ink: Kiwi Kiss, Baja Breeze, Pacific Point
Accessories: Dies: Large Scallop and Daisy bigz, Flower embosslit, punches, brad, ribbon

I think it will be lots of fun. The template for the card folder is in the tools section on the right side of my blog. It's a quick and easy way to make a gift for someone special!

Thanks for visiting!

Twinkling Tuesday Challenge - Frogs!

The Whimsical Butterfly hosts the Twinkling Tuesday Challenge each week and I don't get a chance to play along nearly as often as I'd like. This week, I just couldn't pass it up - frogs! I have lots of uninked froggy stuff around here and it's about time it got inked up! Here's my cards:

Recipe:
Stamps: Whimsy Stamps Frog, Unfrogettable, Frolicking Frogs
Paper: Pacific Point, Green Galore, Whisper White
Ink: Memento black
Accessories: pencils, blending stumps and oms, dragonfly brads

I made two because I couldn't decide which color combo I liked best. Green Galore is a color that I hardly ever use, but I think it works here.

Thanks for visiting.

Hybrid Project

I have been collecting digital scrapbooking kits with the hope that one of these days when I have some "free" time I can learn how to use them. I decided that in the meantime, I'm going to wing it and use some of these elements in my cards. This set is an example of this.

This is the set all "tied up"

This is the set opened up:

This is one of the cards:

This is the inside of the cards:

These are all the cards:

The card carrier was inspired by this made by Becky Roberts of Inking Idaho. I have purchased some of her kits in the past and let me tell you - they are great! Fantastic illustrations and great directions. Check out her blog and see all the wonderful stuff she has there.

The marbled green paper and the circle, stems and birdhouse branch are all digital elements from a scrapbook kit called In my Garden by Jot and Scribble that I purchased from Two Little Pixels. I have Photoshop Elements, but don't know how to use it yet, so in true winging it fashion, I just opened up Word Perfect and set up a 4x4 page and put the graphics in and arranged them the way I wanted them. I printed it out using my Canon color printer and then cut them out and mounted them on the black and Pumpkin Pie mats. I did the same with the design on the inside of the card. The butterfly was stamped on Whisper White with Black Craft ink, heat embossed with clear embossing powder then colored with SU markers, punched out and mounted on a Pumpkin Pie scallop circle. The greetings are all from SU and were stamped directly on the dp with Black Craft and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I cut the handles using the large oval punch by SU and made the scallop around it using a Marvy scalloped oval. The trim on the inside pockets is Whisper White punched with a Fiskars edge punch and trimmed with a strip of Pumpkin Pie and some black velvet ribbon from SU.

I really had fun doing this, even if it wasn't done in a very conventional manner. Let me know what you think of it.

Thanks for visiting. Recovery is coming along nicely and I'm going to try taking a walk this morning remotely with my blogging buddy Diane. Check out her blog as she has some really nice things to share!

Courtney has a cute outfit again this week!

Check out our gal Courtney's outfit this week:

Isn't she just the cutest? Here's my card inspired by her outfit this week:

Card base is Ballet Blue. Animal and sentiment stamps are from Wild About You, sun is from Unity and the flowers are from Cheep Talk. Green mat is Wild Wasabi and scallop is Summer Sun.

Still in love with daisies!

Here is a little purse with some note cards that I started over the weekend and finished up yesterday. I have been combing through all my saved blog posts, templates, SCS resources and I cannot find the post that gave me the inspiration and the detailed instructions on how to make this though. PLEASE if one of you sees this and knows where it came from, let me know as I really want to give credit where it is due and also be able to recreate this again. I know that it would have been in the last week or so, but for the life of me I cannot find it now. It was made from a single sheet of designer paper and has two pockets to put goodies in.

Empty Bag

Note card - outside

Note card - inside
Bag with cards

Patterned paper is SU Delicate Dots from the SAB mini. Card base is Certainly Celery and the flowers were made with Whisper White, Summer Sun and Garden Green using the daisy die for the Big Shot. I put a piece of Garden Green through the BS using an embossing folder and then punched out the "buttons" as the gorgeous corduroy buttons that I used on the bag would have been a bit too thick for the notecards. The graphic on the inside is from a graphic set called Now and Forever from pcCrafters and it has some really gorgeous daisy images in it!

I'm still working on a couple of things to show you later this week and I'm getting ready for a workshop on Sunday and will post some of our projects for that as well. Tomorrow I will share a hybrid project with you that has me really excited! Thanks for visiting today!

You gotta love Colorado!

This is what we woke up to this morning!

Yesterday dh was working on the boat and today poor Belmira is covered in snow!

I got a wonderful thank you note from Donna (one of my fellow Lime Light team members) for the cards we sent last month for her students. They commented that they really like the moose cards, so Sabrina and I made them some more. We made four of each of these designs and I'm sending them off to Donna today. I hope they like the bear too because I thought he was really cute. The graphics are from pcCrafters (of course) from a set called Wild Bunch, and all the cardstock is SU.

Thanks for visiting! I am going to try to take it easy today. I felt so good on Saturday that I pushed a bit too hard and yesterday I paid the price - swollen and very sore knee - so today I'm taking it easy even though I feel better. Gotta give this old body more chance to heal before I go trying things I shouldn't!

In love with Apricot Appeal

For some reason I have been grabbing all things Apricot Appeal the last few days - paper, ink pad, markers - yikes! I've had this Walmart ribbon for a while and keep pulling it out and putting it away. Not today! I also wanted to play with another of the stamps from April's Kit of the Month from Unity, so I paired them up and this is the result.

Recipe:
Paper: Kraft, Apricot Appeal, Old Olive, Whisper White
Stamps: Unity April KOM, Oval All
Ink: Old Olive, Apricot Appeal, Close to Cocoa
Accessories: brads, ribbon, punches, corner rounder

Thanks for visiting. I hope to be back later today with sneak peeks at a couple of projects I'm working on.

Also, take a look at this yummy bundle of goodies that I got from Tracy for participating in her Christmas Card Challenge.

Weekend challenges

I made this card for this week's Weekend Sketch Challenge and for Sharon's Stamp Simply Challenge. I ripped this card apart at least twice, but I think I'm finally happy with the end result.

Card base is Apricot Appeal and the dp is all from SU. The image is from April's Kit of the Month from Unity and the sentiment is from Hero Arts. I used one of my label nesties to cut and emboss the main image and just punched out the greeting and the scallop circle.

Thanks for visiting!

April Christmas Cards

Again this month I am participating in Tracy's Christmas card challenge. This month we needed to use a snowman image. Here's my cards!

I just love this Penny Black snowman. Every time I see him he makes me smile! Cardstocks used were Not Quite Navy, Lovely Lilac and Night of Navy with Real Red, Elegant Eggplant and Bashful Blue as contrast matting colors. Images and mats were cut using square nesties. Sentiments are from Little Paper Shop, Stampin' Up! and Papertrey Ink. Backgrounds were created with clear stamps, SU wheel and a Cuttlebug embossing folder.

Thanks for visiting today! I am recovering very nicely and am sans crutches today!

A quick card today

Here's a quick card I made using a new image that I recently got from The Stampin Place.

The sentiment is from a Unity kit of the month and the flowers were from my big bag of primas that hang next to my desk. I love coneflowers and daisies!

Thanks for visiting. I'll be back over the weekend to show you some of the things I've been working on while I am in recovery mode.

Some Mother's Day cards

I have seen so many great daisy images this spring and I couldn't help myself - I had to play around with daisies too! These cards were inspired by some of those cards I've seen. Of course, I can't find both of the inspiring cards (I know that one came from LeAnne though). I really have to start sending these inspirations to myself via email so that I can find them when I need them!

Home and just dandy!

Surgery went without a hitch and I am home and blogging from bed! Pain is manageable so far but I'm tired and going to sleep for a bit. Thank you so much for all your good thoughts, wishes and prayers, it was much easier because of them! I am so grateful to everyone for being so supportive - I know what a big weenie I am, but it was reassuring that you all were pulling for me too!

Big Big THANKS to everyone!

So much inspiration ....

There are so many wonderfully talented artists out there making absolutely gorgeous cards. Joanne is one of the many that I am inspired by almost daily. Her blog Sleepy in Seattle is one that I go to frequently when I'm looking for a little inspiration. She never fails to provide it either. Take a look at this card which is a total stunner! It inspired me to make these:

As you can see, I totally CASEd her card. It made me fall completely in love with this level 1 hostess set and now it's on my desk and staying there! I didn't do the sponged clouds on mine as I really liked the contrast provided by the bright white background. I also really love that circle sentiment from Simple Friendship and I think it makes a nice addition to this card. The small flowers were colored with markers, painted with Angel Wing Shimmerz (love that stuff) and then cut out and popped up. The images were all stamped with black craft ink and embossed with clear embossing powder. I wanted to keep the insides relatively plain and so I stamped the leaf image in Mellow Moss and left it blank for folks to write their own messages.

Well today is surgery day and I am prepping this post in advance as we have to be at the hospital at 6:30 and I know I am going to be too nervous to do anything this morning. Hopefully, I'll be back later in the day to let you know how it all went.

Thanks for visiting!

Happy Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day everyone! Here's a card I made using graphics from pcCrafters.

I hope to be online in late afternoon to let you know how things went. I'm nervous and will be so glad when it is finally all over (I'm sure you all will be too - no more whining!)

Thanks for visiting.

Darling Dots

I really like this level one hostess set from the current catalog called Darling Dots. Such cute and fun images! I think this is one of my all time favorite color combinations!

This is another card for my card bundles and I hope it will make someone happy. The card base and ink are PTI's Pure Poppy - a gorgeous rich red. The sentiment is from SU, but I don't know what set it came out of as I just have it in my birthday stamps box. The edge punches are also from SU - me loves my punches! I've lost my favorite ticket corner punch (I think it fell off my table into the trash can and is gracing the landfill - ugh!) Gotta get another one now.

Well tomorrow is surgery day - I probably won't get too much sleep tonight, but it will soon be over and my knee is going to be usable again! Yipee! Gotta keep reminding myself of that and the fact that I will finally be able to go out walking in this wonderful green spring that we are going to be having very soon!

Thanks for visiting!

Ocean Commotion

I'm trying to ink up some of the new rubber I've gotten in the last month or two and this is a set that I just loved when I first saw it and then didn't do anything with after I got it! Bad stamper! I was inspired by this card made by Dawnie (countryfiedchick on SCS) that I saw in the gallery for this set on Splitcoast.

I'm getting a little nervous about surgery on Wednesday. I'm such a chicken when it comes to anything medical! Chewed both my thumbnails down to nothing - yikes!

Thanks for visiting!

Thoughts and Prayers

Here's another card I made to go in my card bundles I'm putting together. I love this set and this is the first card I've made with it. Just a plain and simple get well card that I think would work for man or woman.

Thanks so much for visiting today! Hope you have a wonderful Sunday! The rain and snow have gone leaving us pretty soggy, but I am really looking forward to all the green that this moisture will bring.

Card Tag!

Kim (of Kim's Kreative Corner) graciously organized a fun game of card tag. Here's the card I made for my turn at being "it" and you can see the whole fun progression of the card in this post on Kim's blog. Be sure to go over and take a peek and see the evolution of this card. It's so cool!

I used the fun new set from the Occasions Mini called Sense of Time. The clock face is embossed in gold on some fun paper I picked up at a garage sale and then mounted on a scallop circle of Kiwi Kiss. The dp is from a pack called Muirfield. Card base is 5x5 Pacific Point. I added some buttons and Pacific Point ribbon.

Thanks for visiting! DH comes home today - delayed a bit in Tuscon while they clear up some of the logjam in Denver due to our lovely spring storm. The woodpecker is using the metal chimney covers to make his presence known since the tree is too wet to make any noise! Everything is WET! I'm glad though because now we will have a much greener spring (once it finally gets here that is)!

Couple of "Dress Up" Birthday Cards

My friend Sabrina brought over a pack of handmade paper by Memory Stor a couple of months ago when we were making butterflies for a Liime Light project and I was curious about how it would emboss. Here's the result:

I am putting a couple of card bundles together and I thought these would be nice additions for use when you want something a little less casual than some of my other cards. What do you think? Did it work or not? The paper has gold accents on the ivory and it is really very pretty irl (in real life). Sentiment is from Papertrey and the little flower is from a retired hostess set called Fall Flair. The ribbon is some Christmas ribbon from Mikes and the little dragonfly brads are from Creative Impressions.

This week in Courtney's Closet

This week I'm getting my card done EARLY! Every week time gets away from me and I get my card to Libby late. This week I did the challenge on the day it was issued! Here's our darling Courtney in this week's inspirational outfit - don't you love it?

Here's my card inspired by her outfit. I don't have any doggy stamps, but I thought the butterfly was nice too. The flowers are printed dingbats that I was playing with in an effort to make some of my own "designer paper" - we'll see how that goes and I'll keep you posted. The red is much richer looking IRL, it's PTI's Pure Poppy and it's wonderful but my camera skills still leave a bit to be desired!

Thanks for visiting.

Courtney has a playmate!

Two of my favorite gals, Courtney and Avery, had a play date and Avery dressed up for the occasion! Here she is in all her glory. Isn't she just the sweetest?

Here's my card inspired by her outfit. I haven't played with Purely Pomegranate in absolute ages and it was fun!

Recipe:
Stamps: Unity, Best Yet
Paper: Purely Pomegranate, Kiwi Kiss, SU dp
Ink: Purely Pomegranate, Choc. Chip
Accessories: punches, brads, cotton cord
